Fujitsu Delivers a Standardized Global Legacy Modernization SolutionCustomers Have Access to Greater Expertise and Best of Breed PartnersSUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/26/11 -- Fujitsu, a leading provider of information and communications technology (ICT) business solutions, announced the launch of its Global Legacy Modernization Solution. The announcement of this offering is further supported by the release of a web-based service for customers to undertake an online self-assessment at each level of the service capability set. This new option enables customers to better define their situation and business requirements, which then guides an understanding of customer needs and project priorities for Fujitsu. While using Legacy Modernization to extend the effective life of aging production applications is not a new concept, the formalization of a standardized and agnostic global offering is a significant benefit for customers of Fujitsu. Irrespective of location, every customer now has access to the complete global legacy modernization expertise of Fujitsu. To date, Fujitsu had been providing these services to customers in 17 countries, but Global Legacy Modernization is now leveraging the skills and knowledge from those individual consultants into one globally available team. The Global Legacy Modernization offering is operating from a Centre of Excellence in Australia and supported by senior teams in the UK, Portugal, Canada and the US. Fujitsu has standardized the approach to tools and its comprehensive list of capabilities; it is now delivering the same methods, style and quality of service on a global scale, allowing customers to gain additional benefits and longevity from production applications in which they have invested time and money over many years and which closely reflect their current business processes. Chris Gaskin, Global Lead for the Global Legacy Modernization Centre of Excellence at Fujitsu, said: "We know of no other vendor of Legacy Modernization services that is able to provide such a standardized and technology-agnostic global coverage of Legacy Modernization solution requirements in the marketplace. "An example of the capabilities that are now available globally is Fujitsu PROGRESSIONTM, which includes the options of migrating clients from Mainframe and Midrange Platforms to a Microsoft® technology stack either in a customer's Data Center or on Cloud Services including Windows AzureTM. All eight capabilities are described on the Fujitsu web sites and in related brochures. "Our definition of Modernization is broader than application migration. Global Legacy Modernization is formalizing proven Fujitsu IP capabilities such as PROGRESSION and CoolCat, which we have been running with for some years in conjunction with the best partner solutions available. Customers have the benefit of Fujitsu being agnostic in its recommendations for the adoption of underlying technology." Many private sector organizations and government agencies continue to rely heavily on aging business-critical software applications and the platforms on which they reside. While these systems are reliable, scalable and rich with business logic, and have a high degree of functional fit, they often become serious roadblocks to growth, innovation, workplace usability and ability to leverage the advantages of cloud services. "This consolidation of Fujitsu's Global Legacy Modernization solutions will resonate particularly well with multi-national organizations and those undergoing mergers and acquisitions because of the services' ability to undertake a worldwide overhaul of their application footprint with total consistency of process and delivery," Mr. Gaskin said.
