Is a Media Center PC for games or serious computing needs?
Both. Built on Windows XP, a computer running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 delivers the full power and functionality of Windows XP. Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 is the best version of Windows for the home. In addition to enjoying the rich digital media and gaming experiences it offers, you can use a Media Center PC to surf the Internet, send and receive e-mail messages or Instant Messaging, run spreadsheets, create documents and presentations, and a lot more.

Can I upgrade my existing PC to Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005?
No. Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 is available only on select Fujitsu Notebooks at time of purchase. These PCs provide the hardware configurations necessary to enjoy the home computing and enhanced digital entertainment.

Do I have to purchase a TV Tuner when I buy a Media Center PC?
No, you do not have to. However, you will need a TV Tuner option to enjoy the TV functionality contained within XP Media Center Edition 2005. All Fujitsu Media Center notebooks ordered with a TV Tuner come equipped with a single TV Tuner (built-in or external) that captures your television signal from a cable, satellite, or antenna source. With the TV Tuner option you can:

  • Watch, pause, replay and record live TV
  • DVR capability without the monthly recurring charge (like TiVo® )
  • Transfer your recorded TV programs to DVD to watch on a stand-alone DVD player, your notebook, or another computer (Multi-Format DVD Writer drive required)
  • Have access to an online TV guide at no extra cost

What extra fees or connections are required to make the Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 features fully active?
None. There is no additional charge or monthly fee for access to the Electronic Programming Guide (EPG), the Movie Finder service, or included Web services such as automatic download of music album art or chapter names for DVDs.
